In my search for new digital storytelling tools, I found Storybird. It's unique and incredibly useful! Plus, the artwork is spectacular!

A few words from their website:
Art Inspired Storytelling
Storybird reverses the process of visual storytelling by starting with the image and "unlocking" the story inside. Choose an artist or a theme, get inspired, and start writing.

I love this option for digital storytelling!
Here are the different things you can do on Storybird:
~You can create a story using a theme or artwork (tons to choose from)
~You can read other Storybirds to get inspired
~You can collaborate with another person on a story

There are so many great ways to use this in the classroom! Pictures are a great way to spark writing. But also, I like the idea of collaborating. Younger students could create a story as a class. Older students could pair up together. Also, how about if several students used the same artwork or theme, but created totally different stories. Comparing those in class would be so much fun! Finally, think about your students who freeze with a blank sheet of paper in front of them. Pictures are a great way to get that student writing.

Check it out! You'll love it!
